The Camas-Washougal Busuness Alliance (CWBA) has been doing a food drive called “Stuff the Bus” for 13 years. It’s a local drive, the largest in our area, and met with much enthusiasm annually. We utilize the Camas & Washougal school districts to help achieve our goals. The students volunteer their time and efforts to support the program and we enjoy getting to know our amazing local leaders.
Each year, we raise an average of 40,000 pounds of food for our beneficiaries. They include the Children’s Home Society, the C.A.R.O.L. Program and the American Legion of Skamania County.
This year, due to COVID 19, we have had to adjust our program. Without kids in school this presents a challenge because we have to operate without their support. We are counting on grants, donations from local business and donations of food or cash from our community members like you!
All money and food go 100% toward our local community. The Children’s Home Society is the main beneficiary and they serve over 600 local families a month with the food we provide. Our goal every year is that through this food drive they have enough food to serve the community for the entire year. However, with covid and more families in need it’s not likely. They also provide food for kids through the backpack program. Any student who is in need of food on Friday gets a backpack full of food to help them through the weekend. This program has changed as well due to the pandemic, but they still give food and elemenry schools are hybrid classes currently. Our other beneficiaries provide 200 local families with food for the holiday’s including Christmas dinner and then additional food to supplement for a short time.
We can’t do it without your support and thank you for any donation of food or cash you can make.
